Cheery Lynn Challenge 51 – All About Texture

It’s Friday and I am thrilled to be back with another project to share with you this week!

Our challenge this week at Cheery Lynn Designs is All About Texture.  So with that in mind, I wanted to show you a really neat technique that you might way to try.  For my project, I started by inking up my Wicker Embossing Plate with distressed black ink and embossing my card stock.  I then used my Big Weaver die to cut the card stock into strips to resemble wood.  Once I had my strips cut, I then distressed the entire sheet with several different colors of distressed inks to give the appearance of wood that looked somewhat “aged.”

One of the great things about the Wickers and Weavers dies is that they are made so that there is no cut line at one end so that you can extend the die cut to the width of your paper.  This is also the case for both the new Expandable Tiny Borders and the new Expandable Quilling Strip Die

For the supports on the wagon and the seat bench, I simply used my Big Wicker die but did not emboss this with the Wicker embossing plate, just a bit of distressing to give the feeling of old “faded” leather.

Here is the finished Fall Wagon

This was such a fun project to do and it gave me the opportunity to use my Cheery Lynn dies in some different ways.  I hope this gives you some ideas when looking at your dies.  I think you will find there are some wonderful unexpected surprises contained within each and every one of them!

For this project I used the following:

B188 – Build a Flowers Embellishment #2
B240 – Fall Pumpkins
D133 – Small Leaves #1
D134 – Small Leaves #2
D135 – Large Leaves #1
D136 – Large Leaves #2
G18 – Wicker Embossing Plate
W102 – Big Wicker 1/4″ Strips
W104 – Big Weaver 1/2″ Strips

JustRite Friday Challenge #084 – “Flower Power”

I hope everyone is enjoying a great Saturday.,

I was able to enjoy a bit of time in my craft room today and thought I would play along with this weeks challenge at JustRite Friday Challenges.  The challenge this week  is called “Flower Power” and the goal is to use at least 3 flower embellishments in your project.

Well I have a weakness for flowers so this one was an easy decision.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog.  I love to hear your comments, they make my day!

More fun with the New Release

Hi everyone, well it’s Friday… let the weekend begin!

Today I would normally do a post for our current weekly challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs but I am having so much fun with the new release dies I couldn’t help myself.  I made a project using some of my New Release dies and I was having so much fun I pulled out some of my oldies but goodies to do a second project.

For my first project, I want to show you a card I made using the new Lacey Christmas Ornaments.  They are so delicate and pretty and I know you are going to have a lot fun using them.  They even have a built-in hanger so you can actually hang them up!  How cool is that!  I also thought the Merry Christmas sentiment was the perfect accompaniment to make a lovely Christmas Card.

Here’s a closer look so you can see what I mean.

For this project I used the following dies:

B215 – Expandable Tiny Borders
B216 – Wreath Strip
B160 – Queen Anne’s Lace Border
B186 – Merry Christmas Set
DL227 – Lacey Christmas Ornaments
XL-7 – Oval – Classic – LG Stackers Nesting Dies

As well and in keeping with this weeks challenge theme Corner Adorners (must use a corner embellishment), my second project is a card in honor of a sweet friend.    I know she loves these colors together and the inspiration for the color combination came from her.  For this card I used the Spring Flower Burst Doily die with Angel Wing and cut it once in each color.  I then cut and layered sections of the doily with each of the colors to get this effect.  It is a little time-consuming but the results are so worth it.  I hope you will give it a try : )

Here is photo of how it came together:

For this project I used the following dies:

B117S – Mini Fanciful Flourish
B149 – Cuties 1
B165 – Lace Corner Deco E
D137 – Sweet Williams
DL221 – Spring Flower Burst Doily
XM-7 – Oval

Don’t forget to visit the challenge this week and put in your entry where the theme is Corner Adorners (must have a corner embellishment)!

You have a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs and with all of the wonderful new dies announced this week I have no doubt you will be able to put your winnings to good use!
