Joan’s Gardens Week 124

Hi there and Happy Sunday to all my blog friends!   : )

Today I want to share with you a card I have made to enter in this weeks Joan’s Gardens Challenge.
I decided to dust off some of my dies that I have not used in a while and it was nice to play with them.  I actually bought most of these from Joan’s Gardens.

Here is what we need to do for this week’s Challenge:

Create a card that:
  • Your card needs to be pink and white
  • Use at least one heart
  • Use a pretty border

Heart Shaped Box

Good Morning, and Happy Friday Everyone!

WOW, where does the time go?   It’s hard to believe that we are already past mid-January.  Seems like yesterday we were getting ready for Christmas and before we can blink, Valentines Day will be upon us!!   So with this week’s challenge theme in mind, I have a fun heart-shaped box I made to share with you.

It’s been really great to play with the new release dies and I was able to incorporate a few of these new dies into this project, but I pulled out some of my favorites dies from my stash as well : )   I used the DL106 Heart to Heart Doily as the focal point of my heart-shaped box.   This is such a gorgeous set of dies!  You get a set of 4 dies, 3 of which die-cut heart-shaped lace doilies and the 4th gives you a solid shape backing for the largest doily.  I bet you are thinking what I am…, there are lots of uses for this gorgeous set all through the year not just Valentines Day!  : )

For a bit of a different twist, I decided to build long-stem roses and used the Miniature Rose die and my flower tool to form the rose buds.  The BAF #2 Embellishments provided the stems and the baby’s breath accents.

If you want to make this box yourself it is actually quite easy.  You can use this method for any box that you want to make.  Simply have a die cut for the top and bottom of the box. (Hint: I normally do at least 2 die cuts for both the top and bottom for stability)  After that,  all you need is a strip of paper in whatever height that you want with a 1/2 inch fold to glue it to the top or bottom.  When making the bottom simply make the side a little smaller so that the top fits on.  If your need to bend the side simply put relief cuts on the 1/2 inch fold to allow you to form it in whatever shape you desire.

Flower Vase with Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

I hope that all of you are finding loads of inspiration with the January new release dies.  I have been having a blast and I just had to show you another project that I have put together using some of the new dies as well as some ‘oldies but goodies!’

I have had so much positive feedback from the last flower vase I did that I decided to try my hand at another version.  This one with a bit of a twist : )

To make this vase I simply created a template by drawing a rectangle 4″ wide by 7″ tall.  I then drew a line down the middle so I could find the center.  Since I wanted the vase to be tapered I marked a line 1.5″ on each side of center at the bottom of the rectangle and joined the top and bottom.  Now I have my basic shape for my vase 4″ at the top and 3″ at the bottom.

Once  I had the basic shape I simply needed to add a flap on the right and the bottom so I could glue it all together.

Here is what my template looks like:

Vase Template

I actually cut this 6 times, 3 with DP and 3 with card stock.  Once all the pieces are cut,  I scored each piece in the middle (2″ from the left side) with the paper aligned at the top of my Scor-Pal.

My vision for this vase was to use the gorgeous Canadian Kaleidoscope Tiny Doily at the top so I layered 1 piece of DP and 1 piece of card stock together and centered the doily in the center and cut through both layers.  After all 6 doilies are cut, place a piece of acetate between the layers to give something to attach the doily to.

Here is what the pieces look like before you start to assemble:

I hope you have as much fun with this as I did!

You make me Smile! JustRite Friday Challenge #088

Hello there everyone!   : )

I hope everyone has been enjoying watching the fresh new fun stamps that are being posted!   They are just absolutely fantastic and my wish list is a mile long!!  I think they just might be the best EVER!
Today I want to share with you a card I have made to enter into  JustRite Friday Challenge #088.  For this challenge we were given this sketch to use as inspiration.
JR88 Sketch
Long story short, I made a card to mimic this great sketch and I could not help myself so I decided to add a little “flair.”  I just love different fancy fold cards so here is one that I thought worked well for showcasing the sketch.  I hope you like it too!

Blue and White Thank You Card

Hi Everyone and welcome to the weekend,

I hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful week so far.   Today I would like to share a card I created for 2 different challenges.  I want to enter this card in the Mojo Monday 275 Contest as well as Joan`s Gardens.  I normally only do 1 challenge per card but since both of these fit my card perfectly I decided to enter into both.

For Mojo Monday the sketch we were asked to follow is:

For Joan`s Gardens we are asked to do the following:

  • Create a blue and white card

Cheery Lynn Designs January 2013 New Release

Hi Everyone,

I am super excited to share with you today a project that I created using some of the new release dies.  You are going to fall in love with them.  I especially love the new Mini and Tiny Doilies and the new Cutie Flowers.

The Design Team has provided you with some lovely inspiration.  Be sure to check out the Cherry Lynn Inspirations Blog for more fantastic creations.

I had a friend that was sick and when I was talking to her I decided to make her a Get Well Soon card.  She had a cold so that is where the Kleenex idea came from.  It fit perfectly into the new Daisy Party Purse.  The Purse is so cute and there are so many other uses for it that I know you will love it.
