Folk Art Birdhouse Fence

Folk Art Birdhouse Fence

Hi everyone!  So happy you popped by 🙂    Welcome to Wednesday and as always I have some inspiration for Heartfelt Creations for you today!  Today I am featuring the new Butterfly Medley Paper Collection and I am doing it with a fun piece of pretty Folk Art!

Are you longing for springtime…dreaming of sunny hours spent in a lavish flower garden where butterflies flit lazily from blossom to blossom?  Heartfelt Creations invites you to revel in the beauty of springtime with the release of the Butterfly Medley Collection of stamps, dies, and papers.  This uplifting collection is bursting with bountiful botanical roses and a kaleidoscope of fanciful butterflies.  Soft shades of pastel peach, lilac, sage, lemon, teal and pink are the perfect counterpoint for the bleak, grey days of mid-winter.  Beautifully landscaped backgrounds include pastel plaids, cheery polka-dots, flowing script, classic stripes, elegant flourishes, seed packets, garden themed sentiments and images.  Six hand drawn stamp sets featuring botanical roses and butterflies can be paired with two sets of dies, allowing you to stamp and die cut a host of embellishments with a single pass through your die cutting machine.  You’ll dream in beauty, plant seeds of encouragement and reap a harvest of creativity when you design with the Butterfly Medley Collection from Heartfelt Creations.

Project Instructions:

Other products:  White Card Stock, Marvelous Squares, Distressed Inks (Clear, Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Forest Moss), Antique Linen Distressed Embossing Powder, Distressed Crackle Paint, Copic Markers, Ribbon, Pearls, Bling and String from my stash and die cutting machine.

Instructions:

Start by cutting the pieces out of White Cardstock using this template and the pieces for the fence out of paper from the Butterfly Medley Collection using this template.  Glue the solid fence pieces together and the separate fence pieces together.  For the roof tops, cut 5 of each piece to give some dimension.  Attach your separate panels to the fence and when complete set a heavy book on it and let your glue fully cure, this will keep your piece from warping from the moisture in the glue.  The flowers were stamped with Cantaloupe, distressed with Clear and heat embossed with Antique Linen embossing powder.  To make the flowers different colors a few flowers were distressed with Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold and the leaves are distressed with Forest Moss.  Finally the butterflies were stamped with Expresso Truffle and colored with Derwent Watercolor Pencils using a combination of Light Blue (33), Straw Yellow (5), Pink Madder Lake (17) and Madder Carmine (19).

Here are a few Step by step pics to help demonstrate the instructions:

Step 1:

Start by cutting the pieces out of White Cardstock using this template and the pieces for the fence out of paper from the Butterfly Medley Collection using this template.  When you are done your pieces will look like this:

My name is Joann and I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia with my husband Miles. We have one son who is in the Royal Canadian Navy. I have worked full time in the Finance and Insurance industry for the past 29 years. I absolutely adore all things paper & glue and have been involved with crafting in some way for most of my life. I have a great admiration for creating projects from paper that may not necessarily be made from paper. When not in my craft room, I enjoy spending time at our cottage enjoying all that nature and suburban life has to offer.
