Under the Sea – 3D Fishing Hat

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for popping by today.   Since I live so close to the sea and fishing is such a large part of this region I decided to use the Under the Sea collection and create for you a fishing hat that also doubles as a great Father’s Day gift.  If you would like to create this yourself the cut file can be found here.

Other products:  White Card Stock, Light and Dark Brown Card Stock, Cut File, Distressed Ink (Tumbled Glass), Distressed Markers (Antique Linen and Spun Sugar), Antique Gold Ink, String and Beads from my stash and die cutting machine.

Instructions:

Start by cutting and assembling this hat box according to the directions using light and dark brown card stock accented with paper from the Under the Sea Paper Collection.  Begin decorating by fussy cutting the portal and wood grain strip around the top of the hat from paper from the Under the Sea Paper Collection.  Layer on some small sea shells from the Tropical Hibiscus Cling Stamp Set which were stamped on white cardstock with Expresso Truffle and cut with the matching die and then colored with Antique Linen and Spun Sugar distressed markers.  For a little dimension the shells were lightly cupped using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit prior to attaching them to the hat.  The Tropical Hibiscus flowers were stamped on white cardstock with Expresso Truffle and cut with the matching die and distressed with Tumbled Glass Distressed Ink, mini brown pearls were added to the stamen and flower center.  Shape flowers with Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit and add beads to the stamens to finish them off.  Finally the sentiment from the Heartfelt Wishes Cling Stamp Set is stamped on white cardstock with Antique Gold Ink before die cutting with the Cut Mat Create 2B Die and finally distressed with Expresso Truffle.
