You Make The World a Better Place

You Make The World a Better Place

Hi everyone!  Thanks so much for popping by today.  I have been working with the new Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy collection lately and I keep thinking about how grateful that I am to all of the Veterans that have done their part to help the world be a better place and sometimes how little we actually show them our heartfelt thanks.  I know that they sometimes receive medals for things they have done in the line of duty but I wanted to create my own version of a medal to simply say “Thank you for your service!”

Also, this week we having a blog hop with Art Anthology so I am using some of their fabulous Sorbet Dimensional Paint, I hope you like!

Project Instructions:

Other products:  Black Card Stock, Silver Metallic Card Stock, Art Anthology Sorbet dimensional paint Kenyan Copper, Standard Circles Small, Labels 25, Distressed Ink Abandoned Coral, Versamark, Silver Embossing Powder, Ribbon and Bling from my stash, Goosebumps Texture Spray and die cutting machine.

Instructions:

To start with I made a basic box 3″ wide x 5″ long and 1 1/2″ tall and covered the edges with strips from the Blazing Poppy Collection.  To dress up the box I also layered a piece on the inside of the lid and at the bottom of the box.  My medal shape was made by combining a 2″ circle with a 1 1/2″ wide x 3″ long rectangle.  Layer a die cut from the All Geared Up Die cut from Silver Metallic Card Stock to make the round part of the medal look like a coin and top off with a flower made from the Blazing Poppy Collection.  The flower is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and distressed with Abandoned Coral distressed ink.  The leaves were stamped with Memento Cottage Ivy and distressed with Memento Olive Grove.  For some added shine, spray your completed flower with Goosebumps Texture Spray.  Finally complete the inside of the box with a die cut and stamp from the Everyday Heros collection stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Silver embossing powder and decorate the top of the box for that final touch!

I also wanted to show you a few step-by-step photos for how I used the Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Paint on the top of my box.

Step 1:

Place your 3″ x 5″ piece of designer paper over a piece of scrap paper and layer with the die cut that you want to use as your stencil.  You can also use any stencil but I wanted to use this die cut.  Once you have everything positioned I covered any areas that I did not want the paint to get on with removable tape.

Step 2:

Using a sponge, dab the paint over the entire surface.  You can also use a spatula to get a thicker coverage but I seem to have better luck with a sponge.

Step 3:

As soon as you are finished, remove your stencil and set aside to dry.  For some added dimension I cut the die out again using Silver Metallic paper and layered it on the top so the paint appeared through the holes in the diecut.

I have worked full time in the Finance and Insurance industry for the past 29 years. I absolutely adore all things paper & glue and have been involved with crafting in some way for most of my life. I have a great admiration for creating projects from paper that may not necessarily be made from paper. When not in my craft room, I enjoy spending time at our cottage enjoying all that nature and suburban life has to offer.
