To make this project follow these steps.
Step 1
Start by 3 scalloped hearts out of White cardstock. For best results, I would suggest using the Core Basics 110 lb. card stock. The larger hearts are 6 1/2″ x 7″ while the smaller one is 5″ x 4 1/2″ in size.
Step 2
Cut 3 solid hearts out using the Core Essentials Pastels Collection. The hearts measure 6″ x 5 1/2″.
Step 3
Using the same cardstock you use for the solid hearts, cut two 12″ x 2 1/2″ strips and score on the 1/2″ mark on the long edge. If you want your box deeper, simply make these pieces taller. Now, in order for these strips to take the form of the hearts you will need to make a series of relief cuts to allow them to bend. Once your relief cuts are done, emboss and sand your cardstock. Don’t forget to use your Dust Buddy to cleanup!
Step 4
Attach 1 strip to one of the solid hearts and the other solid heart. Make sure that you attach the strips to the opposite sides of the heart so that when you attach them together they will form the box.
Step 5
For one the pieces, cut the excess from the strip off and for the other piece only cut off the 1/2″ scor. You will use the extra paper to attach the 2 hearts together.
Step 6
Flip over the top heart and attach the strip of paper so that the box will open and close. For a clean look, attach the paper on the inside of the box. Once the glue has dried, attach the last solid heart on the top for added strength.
Step 7
Finally, layer on your remaining hearts and decorate.
Thanks for stopping by for a peek… Have a wonderful day my crafty friends!
Beautiful! Receiver of this Valentine Box will be sure to be impressed. Might give it a try for another year.
